Term 3 is here. You want to make the most of your Grow Your Mind subscription… but so far, it hasn’t quite happened.
You know social and emotional wellbeing matters. You know the platform is packed with ready-to-go lessons and activities. And yet, there’s always something in the way.
Thanks to our free weekly check-in calls with teachers around Australia, we’ve uncovered the five most common barriers to using the Grow Your Mind School platform, and we’ve paired each with 3 solutions.
Have a read. Come on, you know you want to finally unlock this spectacular, award-winning wellbeing program (even if we do say so ourselves).
And if you’re not a Grow Your Mind school, stick around, we’ve included some free resources you can start using right away.
BARRIER 1: There is no time in the school day for wellbeing.
Solution 1: Use our Grab 5-minute daily resources.

Grab 5-minute wellbeing resources
You’ll find four terms’ worth of activities, all under five minutes, for every year group from Kindergarten to Year 6. Choose to focus on emotional regulation or explore different wellbeing themes each day. There’s a variety of journaling, breathing, movement, reflection and discussion ideas.
Solution 2: Use our curriculum-aligned units of work.
Every Australian school needs to teach content from PDH/Health. Our units of work do the heavy lifting for you, fully resourced and mapped to the curriculum.

Solution 3: Choose a book from our recommended list.
Reading is part of every classroom. While you’re at it, spot character strengths using our strength spotter resource.

Speaking of books…we have one!

The work is done for you. Our book includes units of work, learning activities, free teaching notes and a free student journal.
BARRIER 2: My Year 5 and 6 students are SO over Grow Your Mind.
Tell us where they live.
We jest. But here’s what to try:
Solution 1: Follow our Awe Hunting module.
A new offering for upper primary students, it helps them reconnect with what brings them joy. Includes seven videos across the week.

Or: Try our Awe Walking activity. There’s an audio explainer from our head of content to guide the why and how.

Solution 2: Explore our Class Glimmer ideas.
Simple strategies to bring more joy into school and classroom life.

Solution 3: Listen to Season 5 of the Grow Your Mind Podcast. (Free Resource)
Even if you’ve used it before, give this season a go. It’s our best yet. Real student ideas inspired the episodes, and the young voices are brilliant.
Season 5 helps students:
- Practice kindness and make others feel seen
- Understand and act on the importance of belonging
- Become upstanders in real-life situations
- Strengthen emotional regulation and self-worth through relatable stories

Example episode – plus, you can see lesson plans are linked on the platform
BARRIER 3: The staff aren’t using it. We can’t get buy-in.
Solution 1: Book a free 15-minute check-in with our education team.
We promise it will help. And if your staff still aren’t keen, book it for yourself and we’ll support you.
Solution 2: Watch our self-led professional development as a team.
Popular for a reason, these flexible, budget-friendly bundles cover Growing Respect, Growing Resilience, and Growing a Positive Culture.

Solution 3: Build a wellbeing team – don’t go it alone.
Grow Your Mind works best when it’s a shared effort. Create a small, informal team of staff who care about wellbeing – it lightens the load and boosts whole-school engagement. When leaders and champions work together, the program is more consistent and impactful.
Tip: Add a 5–10 min wellbeing update to your team meetings to share wins and keep momentum going.
BARRIER 4: I can’t find what I’m looking for.
Solution 1: Use Smart Search.
It will change your life. That’s a bit extreme, okay, so it will genuinely change your Grow Your Mind experience. Click on the search our resources image on the landing page to access it.

You can still use the classic search, but Smart Search helps you find exactly what you need using keywords.

Solution 2: Click the clock icon to revisit pages you’ve already viewed.

No more desperate searching for that incredible page or worksheet you used 3 weeks agao. Your History will show you what you have been looking at.
Solution 3: Use the free self-led implementation or “How to use our book” PDs.
If budget is a barrier, these are included in your subscription and are designed for wherever you are in your Grow Your Mind journey.
BARRIER 5: There’s too much content. I just want a plan.
We get it.
We used to love the idea of choosing your own adventure, but we also understand that schools are busy.
Here’s what we’ve done that hopefully keeps both of us happy.
- Created a scope and sequence for units of work, Grab 5, and character strengths education. You just follow it.
- Maintained our flexible core wellbeing themes so you can still respond to student needs in real time. Simply choose a theme and follow a few pages from the module.

- Follow the Grow Your Mind Implementation Road Map. This map is designed to guide schools in embedding the program over time, outlining term-by-term focuses for the first year and offering opportunities to expand mental fitness strategies in subsequent years.
