What things usually result in you reacting like the problem is HUGE?
What colour would give your big and uncomfortable feeling? Where do you tend to feel it in your body?
What helps you calm down when your reaction is bigger than it needs to be?

Make your own catastrophe scale for home. Brainstorm the problems you face and put them on the right level.

When you feel a big and uncomfortable emotion and you sense your Guard Dog is about to bark loudly, try naming it. Even say hi to it "Hello jealousy I see you are visiting me for a while."
Use the emotional check in tool every day for a week, see how many feelings you feel!
Guess the feeling using the feeling cards, play any of the games described in there to further strengthen emotional literacy.

What do you usually do when you have a fight with someone? Do you think you have a calm guard dog or a bossy barking one?
If you have a bossy barking one, how can you calm it down so you can start to argue with a stronger Wise Owl?
Year 3 - 6
Draw a line down the middle of a A4 page. On one side describe a recent point of view from your perspective. Once you have finished, write the point of view from the eyes of the person you had a disagreement with. Try doing this for the next few arguments you have. You will be growing empathy.
Your mission:
Before you yell, sulk or threaten the person you are disagreeing with. Think: is this a 6 and 9 moment? Is there another way to look at this problem

What character strengths do you think might help you have a fixed mindset when facing a problem/tricky task? Why?
Your mission:
Make your own growth mindset tree poster. Put down the fixed mindset statements you usually think or say in the lowest 4 branches. Next write down all of the growth mindset statements you can think of in the higher branches. Stick this up somewhere to remind yourself to keep trying!

Come up with a list of ways you can keep your animals from chatting. Will it involve moving your body, taking deep breaths, doing things for others, meditating? You get to decide!
